What a wonderful evening we all had at the Cancer Research Charity Auction night on the 18th November 2014

Many congratulations to Steve Peeke, his family and friends for bringing it all together on the night.

There was a great selection of donations to be auctioned which included a signed Bristol Rugby Shirt, Bristol Rovers Football & a signed Gloucestershire Cricket Bat, numerous pub & restaurant meal vouchers, horse feed, bedding, equestrian items, chocolates, wine, a Carriage Driving Experience, oh and a cuddly toy.

Our auctioneer for the evening was Adam Fletcher who did a fantastic job as usual of keeping us entertained with his wit & wisdom, and getting us to bid, bid, bid. How he continued at times I will never know due to his 'helpers' Steve Everett, Graham Young and Steve Peeke dressing up to model some of the items for auction and then collapsing in giggles around him. Graham Young did shave that scary beard off & raised over £50 in the process. Aly Marshall and Jenny Collins did a sterling job of keeping track of the winning bids & sorting out the finances at the end of the evening.

The grand total raised, which also included the raffle from the summer show, was £1,412.14 a fantastic amount.

Also during the evening two very special, long standing members of the Avon & Borders Association were presented with signed prints for their long term services to the Association.

Laura Hutchins of the Bengad Stud, who has been on the committee for many many years, became Chairman and is now our President and also Eddie Gadsby who again has been a committee member for many years, held the position of Vice Chair then Chairman and now Vice President. Eddie was also the very efficient announcer at many of the Avon BC shows and has also held the job of writing the association’s article in the WPCS Journal for many years. Both Laura & Eddie were a little overwhelmed by the presentation and thanked the Association for the kind gesture.
